The Challenge

The project was a joint venture between Simon & Schuster, Hachette, and Penguin Books. As one could imagine, there were many opinons on what we should be building, but ultimately it was about people finding their next book to read.

The concept I was most excited about was the idea of an embedable e-reader that would be shareable so as to get users discovering and reading from any device.

The concept of "Just Start Reading" was a great way for users to discover new books by giving them the opportunity to jump right in. The e-reader would be easily embedded anywhere by simply pasting a customizable embed code into any web page or social media outlet.

There was also some initial work on an iOS app. Pairing up with the website experience syncing anything you've purchased or saved.
